For your first appointment with our doctors, you will spend approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes speaking together. Not only will you discuss your current health concerns, but your provider will do an in depth review of all your body systems, your health history, and also explore your mental, emotional, spiritual, and social health. Together, you will develop personal health goals for yourself and lay out the first steps of your treatment plan.
For your return office visits, you will discuss any difficulties or successes you have experienced with your treatment plan and make any adjustments as necessary. You will also work together to further develop your plan and health goals. Return office visits may be utilized to simply check-in on your progress, touch base about any struggles you may be experiencing or what further support you may need, or to continue work that was not fully completed at the prior office visit. This may include reviewing old lab work and ordering new labs.
Appointments with our dietician will typically be 45 minutes in length and will focus on the nutritional aspects of your care, emphasizing a healthy relationship with food for sustainable wellness.
Naturopathic medicine is built on the principle of treating every patient as a unique individual, and also treating the whole person, rather than just the symptomatic aspects. In order for your doctor to determine exactly what the root cause is for each person, she must know the full story; often times it can be the minor details of a person's life that can bring about the most significant changes. Your doctor also strives to make her appointments educational and personally tailored to each patient she sees. She believes that it is critical for you to be involved in your own healing process, and the best way to accomplish this is to cultivate understanding about the treatment plan. This personalized approach is an opportunity for you to tell your story, ask questions, and be heard without feeling rushed.
Our dietician works alongside our doctors to provide highly specialized, nutritional education and empowerment. He provides individual care that focuses on your relationship with food. Often times this leads into deeper discussions of mindset, limiting beliefs, and trauma associations. Our dietitian wants to make sure he fully understands your needs so he can provide you with the best support for long term positive outcomes.
Your doctor is able to order and interpret lab work. She works closely with a number of labs to ensure the best rates possible for you. The doctors are able to offer standard blood panels, as well as more advanced labs like adrenal health panels (cortisol testing), sex hormones, neurotransmitters, food sensitivities, nutrient evaluations, SIBO and dysbiosis, and heavy metals.
Most labs are included in our higher intensity care programs, at no additional cost to you.
Insurance coverage varies by state. While Naturopathic Doctors are registered through DORA (the Department of Regulatory Agencies) in Colorado, insurance companies have chosen to not cover our services at this time. Some Naturopathic providers are able to work with a conventional medical provider to have labs and services run under that provider's license, and therefore be covered by insurance; this is not the practice at the Denver Naturopathic Clinic, as we prefer to not be limited by insurance companies in our treatments or the time we are able to spend with you. This allows us to provide top-quality care and dedicated time to you. This also means that all costs are considered out of pocket.
However, you may be able to use your HSA spending account to cover some of the associated costs.
Your doctor feels very strongly that continuity and follow-up is vital to the healing relationship. For this reason, the Denver Naturopathic Clinic offers a program-based model of healthcare.
Programs grant you more access to your doctor than you would normally experience in a conventional healthcare setting. They are highly focused and allow motivated patients to take a deep dive into their current and most pressing health concerns. Patients who enroll in programs are 90% more likely to experience improvements in their health than non-enrolled patients in the same time frame.
Programs typically last 3-12 months and are built around your health history and your personal health goals. Because of this, all patients must first schedule a 15-minute discovery call with one of our providers. This allows you and the provider to discuss your health concerns and determine if our programs are the right fit for you. Once complete, you will schedule an initial 90-min consultation ($600) so the doctor can appropriately determine the best course of action and time-frame for your particular health program. The program recommendation and it's associated cost will be discussed with you at the end of your initial visit with the doctor.
For program pricing, you have the option of paying in monthly installments or paying the full cost upfront to receive a discounted rate.
All programs include frequent and regular visits with your provider, email and phone communications, standard and specialty lab work, various therapeutic treatments and a supplement credit to be used towards recommended products.
While the programs are designed to save patients thousands of dollars, the greatest benefit is that it allows you to get everything you need for a particular condition at one cost so you can focus only on your treatment plan going forward.
Discovery Calls last 15 minutes.
Initial appointments with our doctors generally run 90 minutes in length and may be completed in person or virtually.
Follow-up appointments are typically scheduled in 15/30/45-minute increments and may be completed in office, by phone, or via our virtual appointment platform.

The law defines a Naturopathic Doctor as a person who has attended 1 of the nationally accredited graduate programs in the United States or Canada, and has successfully passed both sets of national licensing boards by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE). Naturopathic Doctors have attended a graduate-level naturopathic medical program for a minimum of 4 years, and have over 1200 hours in clinical hands-on training.
Naturopaths (not doctors) can be, well...anyone! This title can be used by people who have obtained some level of education in natural medicine modalities, but do not have a formally recognized medical education. They are not able to diagnose, treat, or prescribe. They do not have the same extensive education and are not a regulated industry. While some naturopaths are very knowledgeable, the lack of regulation can put consumers at risk to those who would call themselves naturopaths (or even illegally call themselves naturopathic doctors), despite having no training in the field.
What can we say? It's all that natural medicine!
Our doctors and other providers have extensive graduate level education and continue to stay current with the latest research. They are highly knowledgeable, energized, and excited to work with patients who are motivated about optimizing their health.
